About Manipur

Manipur,a little Shangrila located in North-East India, is a Jewel of India. Thislittle corner is a paradise on Earth where Mother Nature has been extragenerous in her bounty. Least touched and least discovered Manipur promises tobe the great tourist discovery of the 21st century.

  An oval shaped valley surrounded by bluegreen hills, rich in art and tradition has inspired description such as the“Switzerland of the East” with its cascading rapids, tripling rivers, varietiesof flowers, exotic blooms and lakes.  Manipur is one of the seven sister states ofthe north-eastern region of India.  It issurrounded by Assam in the west, Nagaland in the north, Mizoram in the south.  It shares an international boundary with Burmain the east and south side. It contains five major river basins namely BarakRiver Basin, Manipur River Basin, Yu River Basin, and Lanye River Basin.

 It is rightly named Manipur which means ‘Theland of jewels’ because of its picturesque landscape and scenic beauty.Planning a Manipur Tour is highly recommended for those who love nature andnatural beauty.  Forests cover about 67 percent of the totalgeographical area of Manipur, making it abundant with a wide variety of floraand fauna. Its rich wildlife heritage includes Hoolock Gibbon, Clouded Leopard,Hornbills, and Spotted Linshang etc. The state bird of Manipur is Nong-in.  It is also the home of dancing deer ‘Sangai’.

 Manipur has a sub-tropical climate and it issuitable to plan a tour only between October to  March. Usually March to May is humid and hotwhile monsoons last till September.
